Students from Hucknall Sixth Form Centre recently performed at The Byron Festival as part of this year’s ‘Hucknall’s Got Talent’.

Members of the theatre group jumped at the chance to showcase their skills, and on Thursday 12th July, after a few weeks of planning and rehearsing, were able to perform on the stage in front of an appreciative audience.

Our students had a 20 minute slot, compered by Mrs Morris, who introduced Nardia and Britany in the first piece of the evening, a brilliant excerpt from Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Year 12 student Mark then sang two acoustic guitar songs with Nardia returning to perform her own acoustic rendition of two popular songs, accompanying herself on the ukulele – the two then did a beautiful acoustic arrangement as a duet of ‘With or Without You’.

The set was completed by Britany and Nardia performing a dualogue about being lost, which they wrote and directed themselves.

It was a real pleasure to be part of this fantastic community event. Huge thanks and congratulations to The Byron Festival Committee and Ken Purslow, for a lovely evening, and well done to our talented performers.
