The group was made up of year 10 and 12 graphics and art students, eager to explore what this amazing city had to offer, with many making the trip to the capital of Catalonia for the first time. At Parc Guell the students sketched and photographed the beautiful Gaudi architecture and design, which led them down to beautiful La Sagrada Familia. Students were able to witness the continued development of Gaudi’s design (construction started in 1882!) and compare the new and old parts of the cathedral.
During their exploration of art within the city they also visited both the Picasso and Miro museums. Students embraced the Spanish culture by sampling some authentic cuisine, accompanied by some live flamenco dancing which some of our students got involved in!
During a jam-packed week the week students also travelled on cable cars, visited the castle, Olympic stadium, Camp Nou, Parc de la Ciutadella, the Arco de Triunfo and explored the streets of Barcelona.
The students took every opportunity to explore, engage and document their trip, walking a huge 35 miles across their four day trip.
A fabulous learning and cultural experience for all of our students, with memories they will all treasure.
