Today we were delighted to welcome back former Hucknall Sixth Form Centre student Juliet Smith, as she delivered an inspiring talk to our year 13 history class.

History A Level students study the Arab-Israeli conflict 1870-2006 as part of their coursework, and after achieving an A* in her coursework in 2018, Juliet decided that she wanted to see the crisis first hand. She spoke with the students about her experience of visiting Palestine and Israel recently, supporting our current students’ understanding and putting their learning in context. A wonderful and thoughtful reflection on her trip gave us all a great deal to think about.

Juliet is currently studying biology at the University of Sheffield, but in her words, “education should be undertaken for the love of learning” and this experience was about inspiration, relevance and importance. Juliet herself is an inspiration and embodies the values that we hope to instill in our students.

Thank you to Juliet for her time and providing this opportunity to our current students.
