The Moving Image Awards, designed in partnership with the British Film Institute, recognises and rewards the UK’s most talented young film-makers. Every year, students undertaking WJEC qualifications in Film and Media are invited to submit their work for consideration by the panel of judges.

This year we have two students recognised for these awards. Y13 Charlie W has been shortlisted for the Best Screenplay award. A further student, Holly F also got an honourable mention in this category.

The shortlist is announced in the autumn term. Each shortlist is invited to the awards ceremony where the winner for each category, and the overall winner is announced. The awards ceremony is held at the British Film Institute, Southbank in London. The awards ceremony is hosted by the BFI and features guest discussions throughout.

The ceremony has garnered support from teachers and lecturers of film and media courses at a variety of institutions, as well as from leading figures in the film industry. The awards ceremony itself is preceded by a presentation from a leading UK director
