Students at the Hucknall Sixth Form Centre, part of Diverse Academies, were celebrating this morning as they received their A Level results. Their hard work really paid off, with 38% of students achieving the top A*- B grades, and an overall pass rate of 99%.

There have been a number of notable successes from individuals – top performing student at the centre was George N, achieving a hugely impressive set of results with four A* grades (Spanish, history, English literature and Extended Project Qualification) and will be going to study Spanish and Portuguese at Oxford University.

George said of his achievement, “I was surprised when I opened the envelope – I had to check they were my results! Hard work always pays off and the support from staff has been a major part in helping me achieve these grades. I’m really excited about going to Oxford now – I’ve been holding back from celebrating until I had the results in my hand. It’s a dream come true! ”

Other great individual successes include three talented individuals achieving A*, A*, A, A – Gregory M who will now go on to study English at Cambridge, Louis T who is studying joint mathematics and physics at Warwick University and Farrell B who will be going to University of Sheffield to study mathematics, accounting and finance. Charlotte G and Alex B both achieved an impressive A*, A, A, B, with Jade B claiming another set of top results with A, A, A, B.

The most improved student was Madeline B with A*, B and two Cs, going up three grades across four subjects during her final year.

Paul Simpson, head of Hucknall Sixth Form Centre, joined students this morning as they opened their results and said; “We believe in setting high aspirations for our students, and I am delighted to see so many smiling faces today as their hard work has yielded some brilliant results. This set of students have developed so well academically and personally during their time with us, and they have the ability and character to shape their futures any way they wish. Staff have worked extremely hard to support and develop these students are understandably very proud and excited to see them develop and flourish as they take the next steps in their lives.”

Student numbers at Hucknall Sixth Form Centre are growing each year, with the centre having an excellent reputation in the local community and beyond. Mr Simpson added “Students come to HSFC from all over Nottinghamshire because of the high standards of teaching, quality outcomes for all students and our wide range of courses. We still have limited availability for individuals to join us from September, and hope that these results demonstrate how the centre can support all students to achieve their goals.”
