A group of Hucknall Sixth Form Centre students from year 13 have been awarded the prize for Best Community Partnership in the NextGen Leaders Programme. This programme is run by Enactus who support students and young people across the country to engage in social action and social enterprise. Their mission in the UK is to be recognised as a leader in developing a national network of socially minded young leaders of the future, who transform communities and society through real life social action and environmentally responsible enterprise.

The team visited residents on a weekly basis prior to lockdown, to engage in and encourage social contact and combat isolation. According to Age UK, there are 1.4m chronically lonely older people in England, and many more across the rest of the UK, making this a major issue that is now widely recognised in society today.

Well done to everyone involved!
